For the past few months I have been part of an internship called ‘Young Pines’ who is run my the design company ‘Mercy’ based in Liverpool. We have had complete freedom with the project we wanted to do. So our writer Greg Gibson wrote 12 poems based on a disaster happening in Liverpool were the population becomes over crowed and each poem is based in an over run hotel room. Fellow graphic designer Thom Isom and illustrator Will Daw and myself took each poem and came up with different responses. We all worked together on ideas and putting up the show but naturally each of us did separate pieces and helped bring them all together. The show was called ‘No Vacancy” which ran from 15th to 25th of April 2012 in Wolstenholme Creative Space. Here is the peep show in action. The peepshow was inside a nondescript wooden box and when people looked in we got some great responses. The photographs are not as good as the real thing. The lighting played a huge part and we are very pleased with its outcome.

We decided to make a peep show of a hotel room. This was the poem I took on and with the help of Lauren Avery we made a hotel room of paper. Here it is in the making.

This string piece was done by Thom Isom though without me holding the wool, well it would have been 10 times harder! Thom also did the wallpaper designs around the box piece.
